Lukas Podolski, who was loaned out to Serie A side Inter Milan during the January transfer window, said that a return to Arsenal this summer is still an option. Podolski featured for Inter seven times now, but has not yet made any impact on the team and so far failed to impress manager Roberto Mancini.
Even though some fans were happy to close the books on Podolski’s future at the Emirates, the German forward has suggested that the club might see him again next year.
“The Arsenal chapter has by no means been closed,” Podolski told Sport Bild. Although the World Cup winner was looking for a permanent transfer to the Italian side he revealed that the deal ‘does not include a buy option’.
“I still have a year left on my contract and always got along really well with the guys and the fans,” Podolski added.
“But because I was not allowed to play a lot in my last half year, I needed to try something else. When I retire at one point, I can say that I have played in three top leagues: the Bundesliga, the Premier League and Serie A.”
