Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has admitted that he is unhappy over his current role at the club and has stressed that somethings “need to change” now.
The German International has fallen out of favour at the Emirates especially after the arrival of Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck from Barcelona and Manchester United respectively. With a significant reduction of game time, he has featured only three times for the Gunners in the Premier League as a substitute this season with a combined 36 minutes of football.
And this has frustrated the World Cup winner who returned on the back of a successful national outing, only to be benched by manager Arsene Wenger.
"I have assessed my position in the team, and it has to change now," he said.
"Let's see what happens in the winter. The fact is that I'm not happy with it, that's clear."
Podolski arrived at the Emirates back in 2012 from FC Koln and signed a 4-year-contract which expires in 2016. There were interests shown from Juventus and Wolfsburg during the summer transfer window but Arsenal decided to reject those interests after striker Oliver Giroud got injured.
After the arrival of Welbeck, a starting spot has become even more difficult for Podolski. Wenger will have to sort out this situation or the German may well be heading out of the club this January.
