Lydia Nsekera of Burundi became the first woman to be elected in to FIFA’s executive committee.
Lydia Nsekera has been the president of the Federation de Football du Burundi (FFB) since 2004 and has also been a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) since 2009.
After being elected on to Fifa’s executive committee, Nsekera said: “I will inspire women to believe they can lead, I will push them to let their girls play football because it is a school of life, and I will support women in the member associations.”

Nsekera beat Moya Dodd of Australia and Sonia Bien-Aime of Turks and Caicos Islands to get elected for a four-year term.
