Jean-Michel Aulas says that clubs are attempting to derail Bafetimbi Gomis’s transfer to Newcastle United by launching ‘dishonest’ bids.
An official complaint has been filed at French Professional Football League (LFP) by Olympique Lyonnais president Jean-Michael Aulas against clubs who “derailed” Bafetimbi Gomis’s transfer to Newcastle.
Both the clubs agreed a €10 million fee for the French international, who was expected to be wearing the black and white jersey in the upcoming season.
Although, Aulas disclosed that the deal could go “haywire” as arbitration continued to shade down and has now complained to the LFP to find out those who were involved in crashing the deal.
He told L’Equipe: “I am disappointed because the deal was not finalized with Newcastle and I’m pessimistic over the transfer now.
“I filed a complaint because certain clubs were unsettling certain players. Some offered dishonest proposals to try and derail the deal.
“I will let the committee settle it.”
Gomis’s current deal runs out next summer but if his future is not resolved by the end of the transfer window, he would be staying at Stade Gerland, confirmed Aulas.
He added: “Gomis will be reintegrated into the squad if he is not transferred.”
