Lyon take on Nice in a Ligue 1 match at the Groupama Stadium this Sunday. Just a single point separates these two teams, with Nice currently in fifth place on 20 points, and Lyon in sixth place on 19.

A win for Nice, though, could propel them as high as third.

So, can they pull it off, or will Lyon record an important home win this weekend?

Lyon vs Nice Head-to-Head and Key Numbers

Recent results between these sides have been firmly mixed. Their last six meetings have seen two wins for Lyon, two for Nice, and two draws. However, Lyon have not lost at home to Nice since 2021.
Lyon are currently on a seven-match unbeaten run in Ligue 1, winning four of those games and drawing three. Their last game, though, saw them pegged back by Reims for a 1-1 draw.
Nice, meanwhile, are on an eight-game unbeaten run in the league and brushed Strasbourg aside in their most recent game, coming from behind to win 2-1.
These sides saw contrasting fortunes in Europe this week, however. Lyon defeated Qarabag 1-4 in a Europa League game in Azerbaijan this Thursday. Nice, on the other hand, were stunningly beaten 1-4 by Rangers in the same competition. Nice have, in fact, not won any of their first five Europa League matches this season.
Nice have one of the best goal differences in Ligue 1 right now. Just two teams have scored more goals than their total of 23, while only three teams have conceded more than their current total of 12.

Both of these sides have been on excellent league form in recent weeks, with Nice probably looking slightly better than their hosts this weekend.

Despite this, the two sides saw differing results in Europe this week, and Nice's 1-4 collapse at the hands of Rangers will be a massive concern coming into this game. They also have several injury concerns to deal with.

Lyon, meanwhile, should be flying high with confidence after thrashing Qarabag, and on paper at least, they have a superior team to Nice.

Based on this, then, the prediction is for the home side to come away with all three points.
