What’s the story?
Manchester United are challenging for the Premier League title again and Jose Mourinho wants to make sure they win it. The manager is on a quest to make them great again and he knows that he needs only the best players at the club to do it.
Luke Shaw looks set to be deemed as excess to requirements and is on the verge of being sold according to reports in The Sun. The newspaper claims that the left-back is not in the manager's plans and the former Chelsea manager is open to letting him leave in January.
In case you didn’t know...
Shaw was signed by Manchester United after he snubbed a move to Chelsea – a club he is a massive fan of. The Englishman believed that he would develop better at Old Trafford and was on the right path but his horrific leg break at the start of last season derailed all that and he's not been able o get back to his best.
The heart of the matter
Jose Mourinho has made it clear to the board that he does not wish to keep Luke Shaw at the club anymore and wants him sold. The defender is reportedly in talks with other clubs already and is set to leave Old Trafford in January.
Southampton are reportedly the club in the front of the queue to sign him right now. The Saints are ready to sell Ryan Bertrand to Manchester City in the winter transfer window but only if they sign a replacement.

Author’s Take
It's clear that Luke Shaw has no future at Old Trafford. It would be the best for him to leave as soon as possible and start building on becoming the best left-back in England again. He's just 22 and has a lot of time to get back to his best and win a move to big club again.
