Madrid will be foolish to pay £100m for Bale, says Fabregas

FC Barcelona v Levante UD - La Liga

Cesc Fabregas insists that anybody would be foolish to spend £100million for any player let alone Gareth Bale.

There have been widespread rumours that Real Madrid are chasing Tottenham’s superstar Gareth Bale.

Madrid giants are desperate to land the player, so much so that they are willing to match the asking price of Tottenham, which is a staggering figure of £100million. If the transfer happens, it will break the world record for the highest transfer fees paid for a player.

However, Barcelona midfielder Fabregas has insisted that Madrid would be foolish to spend that much amount on a single player. He said: “Spending £100m on Bale is foolish, I don’t know how any club could spend that amount of money.

“He is a great player but we will have to see if Madrid sign him and if he can perform there.”

Fabregas, 26, is still vowing to stay at Barcelona and admits he has not received any offers to return to England amidst widespread rumours that newly appointed Manchester United boss David moyes is a keen admirer of the player.

Regarding his own future, the Spanish international said: “People talk a lot but the truth is no one has spoken with me. I want to triumph in Barcelona. I dreamed of playing there, so I will try and succeed for as long as I can.”

Fabregas is looking forward to playing alongside new-boy Neymar, who joined Barca earlier this month. The Spaniard believes the Brazilian striker — signed for £49million from Santos — can light up the Nou Camp.

He also dismissed talk about a clash of egos with Lionel Messi. Fabregas said: “The egos are very controlled. Messi has won the Ballon d’Or four times and is the best player of all-time but, when you see him every morning, he doesn’t seem like it.”
