Fans were unimpressed with Axel Disasi’s performance in the Premier League clash between Ipswich Town and Chelsea. The Blues fell to a 2-0 defeat on Monday (December 30) at Portman Road.

Enzo Maresca's men entered the contest in a bid to turn around an unwanted run of form. Prior to the match, Chelsea had failed to get a win in their last two league games and were fourth on the table.

Ipswich, however, ignored their underdog status and took the game to the visitors in the early minutes of the match. The Tractor Boys broke the deadlock in the 12th minute.

Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen tripped Liam Delap in the 18-yard box and the latter clinically dispatched his spot kick to put his side ahead. The Blues had a plethora of opportunities to restore parity before the break but couldn’t and were made to pay when Ipswich added a second just eight minutes after the restart.

Axel Disasi’s careless pass was intercepted by Delap, allowing him to charge toward the goal before laying off to Omari Hutchinson, who stroked a low effort into the net against his former club.

Chelsea had no answers as Ipswich held firm to hand them back-to-back losses for the first time this term.

After the match, the Blues faithful took to X to call out Disasi for his error.

A fan wrote:

"Disasi makes Bakayoko look like Lionel Messi. Worst football player I’ve ever seen in my entire life."

Another tweeted:

"Sell Disasi and Badiashile on 1st January itself."
"If we are a serious club we get rid of Disasi immediately and actually get someone that’s competent,'' @CFCMods wrote.
"Axel Disasi is one of the worst defenders to grace the Chelsea jersey," @CFCErm added.
"This should be the last time we ever see Disasi play again," @NewsJeffJ1 chimed in.

"The second goal killed the game a little bit" – Enzo Maresca on why Chelsea fell to a 2-0 defeat at Ipswich Town

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca gave his thoughts on what went wrong for his side in their 2-0 defeat to Ipswich on Monday. The Italian manager lamented the defeat and described the game as ‘strange’ in the post-match press conference. He also claimed that Ipswich’s second goal dashed their hopes of a positive result.

Maresa said (via the club’s website):

"It was a bit of a strange game. We created so many chances in the first half and in the first five or 10 minutes of the second half, we had two clear chances; the header from Joao [Felix] and another shot. Then I think the second goal killed the game a little bit. Sometimes when you create so many chances, the post, the VAR, the 'keeper saves or the defenders that block the shot, sometimes it has to go in that way."

He added:

"It's a shame because it was another chance for us but congratulations to them because probably when you save so many shots on the line, the goalkeeper, the body, the desire from them was very high."

Chelsea will next be in action against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday, January 4.
