Man City injury blow: Ten-Goal colossus to have ankle scan

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure is to have scans on his ankle after hobbling off during City’s 6-0 Capital One Cup tie against West Ham.

The Ivorian did return to the field of play, and scored, but was said to still be feeling pain on his ankle after full-time.

Toure will have tests on his swollen ankle today to find out the issue due the his pain after the match had finished last night.

The midfielder scored a great run in the 6-0 demolition of a hapless West Ham side. It the was the first leg of the semi-final that will no doubt mean Manuel Pellegrini can rest the majority of his first-teamers for the second leg.

Toure was brought off for Martin Demichelis in the 66th minute against Sam Allardyce’s men after having put City 3-0 up at the Etihad Stadium.

City are hopeful that Toure, who was rested last week against Blackburn Rovers, will be fit to face Newcastle United this weekend.

Meanwhile, Pellegrini has been given a boost by the news that Micah Richards came through his first full training session after suffering from a hamstring injury.

The defender has not played since City’s famous 3-2 win against Bayern Munich on December 10th but is back in contention for the game away at Newcastle.
