Brighton & Hove Albion v Manchester City - Premier League
When Guardiola placed Mahrez in the team, it was a surprise. Back in October, it was the Algerian’s failed penalty that allowed Liverpool to come into the title challenge. The Spaniard was probably hoping that Mahrez’s desire for redemption would have an important say in the game. And in the end, Pep’s selection decision turned out to be spot on.

Mahrez tormented the home defense from the start of the game. He had two shots on target in the first half, and in truth, the Algerian had been one of City’s best performers on the pitch. His speed and trickery were a handful for the Brighton team and it was from his corner that City took the lead.
But the Algerian’s moment of salvation was up ahead soon. In the 64th minute, Mahrez slipped away from a challenge from Dunk just outside of the box, moved to his right and then hit a volley with his weaker right foot. It sailed into the goal, gave City the all important breathing space and helped them win the game.

Inspired by Diego Maradona, Deepungsu played as an attacking midfielder for his local club at subdivision level in his initial years and scored an important goal or two. However, his all-time favorite footballer is Lionel Messi, and evidently, he feels Argentina's glory in 2022 is his favorite FIFA World Cup moment for fulfilling his long-standing dream. He is also an ardent East Bengal fan.
Deepungsu has been a Manchester United supporter since the year 2000. Unsurprisingly, his favorite manager is Sir Alex Ferguson and the Scotsman helped him get through some of the toughest days of his life. Like the fiery Scot, Deepungsu also leaves no stone unturned when it comes to accuracy in articles and only relies on credible sources.
Despite believing in Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to create an iconic rivalry, Deepungsu reckons no one can match the longevity of Messi and Ronaldo. He spends his leisure time writing about life on his blog, reading books, and playing the guitar.
