Manchester City eyeing Napoli star Cavani

Angelo Gregucci, Manchester City‘s assistant coach, has admitted that the club would be interested in signing Napoli striker Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguayan is among the most sought after talents in European football, with Chelsea and Real Madrid reportedly monitoring the star striker’s developments.

Manchester City had been heavily associated with a potential £50 million move for Cavani since Balotelli’s future in the team is in doubt, and with Inter Milan targeting Edin Dzeko.

“I don’t know if the club will lay siege to Napoli for Cavani, but every club with a player of the highest level will be courted by bigger clubs. Mancini decides the transfer targets with the new directors.” said Gregucci.

“If Cavani should want a new adventure, I expect they’d let him go.”

Manchester City are, however, one of the few clubs that can afford to put in a transfer package in place that can tempt the 25 year old.
