Vincent Kompany is easily one of the best defenders in the world when he’s fit. But the Belgian has been crippled by injuries in recent times, which is why he missed a lot of games last season.
During the initial part of his career, the 30-year-old was not as susceptible as he is now to injuries, which left the City medical team puzzled but Pep Guardiola recently confirmed that the source of his injury peril has been detected.
Speaking to the media he said,“It's a doctor issue. He has something in his muscle and we believe that was a problem for the many injuries last season. He's getting better. You have to be a little careful. I think it's the last part of that because he's training with the group.”
The medical team believes there are toxins in his blood which have weakened his physical makeup
Kompany's absence has been a sore one to take for City to take. Last season almost every team ripped their defence to shreds. The likes of Eliaquim Mangala and Martin Demichelis just did not have the solidarity to deal with the threat from opposition.
Kompany is also the leader of the team and shows how important he is to the team every time he steps onto the field. There were concerns that Guardiola probably doesn;t prefer Kompany in his defence but his comments will be encouraging for fans.
“When I see him, I say “this guy can play,” because he's training like Vincent is. But the doctor said with what happened in the past, we have to be careful. We cannot win the title without all the players,’ he added. 'I'm looking forward to Vincent, Gundogan coming back.
Ilkay Gundogan has been another that has been missing this season and he might feature in the Champions League game this week. Kompany’s return seems to be a slow one and will not be rushed back by Guardiola.

City not ready to win Champions League : Guardiola
Pep Guardiola has clearly stated that Europe will have to wait a while for Manchester City. The club managed to reach the semi-finals of the competition last season but lost to Real Madrid over the two legs.
Pep believes his team will get better as the competition progresses, however. "If you ask me whether we are ready to compete in Europe, we are not ready. We create, but in front we need more. But it is just two months together, so we have time to get better."
City face Borussia Mönchengladbach on Wednesday night which will kick-off at 00:15 AM IST. They have been drawn with Pep’s old side Barcelona and Rodgers’ Celtic. It will not be an easy task.
