Roberto Mancini, on Wednesday, confirmed that he is interested in signing Gareth Bale at the end of the season during the summer transfer window. Bale who is having the time of his life at Tottenham has scored 12 goals in 21 games this season in all competitions including a hat-trick in the 4-3 defeat against Inter Milan in the group stages of the Champions League. People have started claiming Bale to be the best left winger in the world and this has earned him comparisons with the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Mancini, who has been in charge of City during their recent success thinks Bale would be City’s “top transfer target” if he is going to be sold by Tottenham.
‘Last year Bale had already proved his value but his career had not yet taken off,” he said. “Now you would need a lot of money to sign him. He is a very expensive player.’
He also thinks that if Spurs sell Bale, they would lose 50 percent of his potential. However, Tottenham Manager Harry Redknapp has publicly come out and denied any rumors about Spurs selling Bale saying that Bale has no intention to move and is very happy at White Hart Lane.
‘Gareth wants to stay at Spurs and we want to keep him. If you’re a club with high hopes you don’t sell talented young players like Gareth Bale. I hope he’ll stay with us for a long time yet.’
Bale is said to be under the radar of several teams across Europe including giants Real Madrid.
Will Tottenham try to sell him if the Galacticos come up with a huge offer? What will happen to them if they lose Bale?
