Samuel Umtiti has a low release clause
Samuel Umtiti has been one of the best defenders in Europe this season. The French defender was one of the players of the season (obviously not considering Messi) for the Catalan club till he got injured a few weeks ago.
Barcelona is not in any mood to sell their prized asset but their hand can be forced as Umtiti has a release clause in his contract. According to the SportsMail, both Manchester United and Manchester City are prepared to meet the 60 million pounds release clause of the Frenchman. This release clause is low for a player of his quality in the currently inflated market.
Leonardo Bonucci not moving in January
Leonardo Bonucci is one of the best ball playing defenders in the world. He moved to AC Milan in the summer and was made the club captain instantly. But AC Milan has struggled as most of their signings have failed to deliver.
There were reports that the Italian defender is looking to make a move away from Milan in the January window but his agent has dismissed the rumours. "Leonardo is a Milan player, and he chose to play for Milan and will continue to pursue his objectives there,” Bonucci’s representative, Alessandro Lucci, said as quoted by the Sky Sport Italia
Agent of Koulibaly hints at move
Napoli has been one of the surprise packages of the season. The Italian side is known for their attacking football under Maurizio Sarri. While their attacking players get the headlines Kalidou Koulibaly has done exceedingly well at the back.
The 26-year-old Senegalese International has emerged as one of the transfer targets for Premier League leaders, Manchester City. When asked about chances of the move, the player's agent said that Koulibaly can definitely join the Premier League leaders as he is talented enough to join a club bigger than Napoli.
The player’s agent Bruno Satin spoke to Radio CRC, "City? Of course, due to his game quality and his skills, Kalidou is deemed as someone who could join an even more prestigious club than Napoli."
City in for Inigo Martinez
John Stones and Vincent Kompany are going to miss action due to injury. Manchester City is looking to sign a centre-back in the January transfer window. Inigo Martinez is one of the most accomplished defenders in the La Liga and fits Guardiola style of play.
According to the reports, the Spaniard has a 28 million pound release clause in his contract which would make negotiations easier for the Premier League leaders. The Spanish centre-back is versatile and can play as a left-back if necessary, which would give options to City.
