Hello and Welcome to the daily Manchester City Transfer corner.
Pep Guardiola made it clear earlier this month that he doesn't expect any January signings for the club despite Manchester City linked to a whole host of players from all around Europe. The reigning Premier League Champions are still in for a couple of signings and hence without delaying further, let's look at what today's edition of transfer round-up has in store for us.
#3 Man City goalkeeper would be rewarded with a new long term contract
According to reports, Manchester City is set to reward their 20-year-old goalkeeper, Aro Muric with a new and improved contract which would triple his current wage at the club. The injury to Claudio Brazo meant Muric is the second choice goalkeeper after Ederson.
His recent impressive performance came in the League Cup quarterfinals against Leicester City. Man City hopes to keep Muric around for longer despite the signing of the USA number one Zack Steffen who would arrive in July.
#2 Chelsea to hijack Man City target, Ilaix Moriba
Manchester City is set to battle Chelsea for the signing for IIaix Moriba from Barcelona. It got reported earlier that City and Juventus were monitoring the situation of the youngster, but now Chelsea has entered the race and considered favorites to sign the La Masia academy product.
The 16-year-old is one of the brightest prospects at Barcelona and became an instant hit after he scored three goals against Real Madrid's Juvenile B team in August.
Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri has heavily criticized his team performances lately and also fears the departure of Hazard in the summer. Moriba has the potential to be a strong midfielder and could easily fit into any of three sides. His contract with Barcelona got completed after he reached the age of 16 on January 19, 2019.
#1 Man United and Man City miss out on Tiago Djalo
The Sunday Express reports that both Manchester United and Manchester City have missed out an opportunity to sign Tiago Djalo from Sporting Lisbon. Along with both the Manchester clubs, Lazio was also interested in the 18-year-old defender who is set to sign for AC Milan in the coming days.
However, Sporting Lisbon has added a clause to his contract which restricts Milan to sell Djalo to Portuguese rivals Porto and Benfica. It would keep doors open for both City and United in case he becomes available in the future.
United are not willing to make any new signings under the caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and would prefer to promote youngsters from the academy instead. On the other hand, City is set to spend big in the summer which rules out any January signings as well.
Both the clubs are also interested in signing Crystal Palace right back, Aaron Wan-Bissaka who has caught the eye of many Premier League sides after his impressive displays since his debut for the Eagles last season.
