#1 Juan Mata
Juan Mata was introduced in the 60th minute along with the rest of the substitutes, but took little time to adjust to the field. He started in the No. 10 role and instantly looked much more reliable than Jesse Lingard.
Even though the Spaniard is hardly the fastest player in the squad, he makes up for his lack of pace with his immaculate ball control and positioning. Against Kristiansund, his abilities won United the game.
Mata displayed his understanding with Paul Pogba once again and also combined well with Andreas Pereira, who took up the right attacking role. With the speed of the youngsters ahead of him, Mata tried to create chances, but the Kristiansund defence held on.
The Spaniard ultimately had the last laugh in the 91st minute.
Mata showed great awareness and ball control in the penalty box, before he was brought down illegally. The Red Devils were awarded a penalty, which Mata converted himself to give United a deserved win.
