#2 Clipping Pogba’s wings

Pogba's attacking instincts were curbed in the second half
Paul Pogba had a great midweek and has been in good scoring form this season. The first half started with the Frenchman the farthest up in the field among the midfielders. From here, he was keeping the Wolves defence and midfield on their toes, taking up good positions, finding teammates, spraying the ball wide and setting up Lukaku.

He was having a positive impact on the game and the way he set up Fred’s goal showed how valuable he is around the box. In a moment of pure genius, Pogba attempted to hit the ball coming back at him first time, but at the last moment, shifted his weight and passed it for Fred to finish.
It was the highlight of his game and it showed him arriving at a confidence that could make him the most feared midfielder in the world soon. Yet at the start of the second half, Pogba found himself in a double pivot role alongside Fred, a move that immediately affected United’s attacking play.

After Wolves got the goal, the Frenchman continued to venture forward with caution, because the security at the back was gone. After a while, he was placed in a midfield two with Fellaini, perhaps the worst player he could have asked for as a central midfield partner.
When Pereira came on, Pogba got a little more freedom but was still doing the tracking back while the talentless Belgian stayed rooted up ahead. It was an absolute mockery of the Frenchman’s qualities by Mourinho and it cost United 2 points on the night.

Inspired by Diego Maradona, Deepungsu played as an attacking midfielder for his local club at subdivision level in his initial years and scored an important goal or two. However, his all-time favorite footballer is Lionel Messi, and evidently, he feels Argentina's glory in 2022 is his favorite FIFA World Cup moment for fulfilling his long-standing dream. He is also an ardent East Bengal fan.
Deepungsu has been a Manchester United supporter since the year 2000. Unsurprisingly, his favorite manager is Sir Alex Ferguson and the Scotsman helped him get through some of the toughest days of his life. Like the fiery Scot, Deepungsu also leaves no stone unturned when it comes to accuracy in articles and only relies on credible sources.
Despite believing in Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to create an iconic rivalry, Deepungsu reckons no one can match the longevity of Messi and Ronaldo. He spends his leisure time writing about life on his blog, reading books, and playing the guitar.
