Manchester United earned their way back into second place on the table thanks to super-sub, Jesse Lingard. The Red Devils had to come from behind after Willian scored early in the first half.
Romelu Lukaku towards the end of the first half to take the teams into the dressing room level on the scoreboard. Lukaku then swooped in a brilliant cross for Lingard to head home.
The game was missing a controversial moment and that just what happened when Alvaro Morata had a goal and it was incorrectly disallowed for offside.
Here are the talking points from the game:
#5 A tactical masterclass
Both Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte came out with a plan while both teams executed it to near perfection. The two sides were out brilliant at defending and made the most out of the 'silly errors' at the back.
However, it was Mourinho who got the final laugh as his substitutions and tactics spot on until the very end. Conte's game plan was working well but his substitutions were highly questionable and that was one of the main reasons for Chelsea to drop the three points today.
#4 Big Rom steps up!
Before the game, there was one thing every single football fan had to talk about: Lukaku has never scored against a Top 6 side. As the criticism piles up against him, one big game after the other, it was perhaps way past time Lukaku stepped up and delivered the goods on a big day.
The Belgian controlled the ball well and slotted it home with ease from inside the six-yard box. Not only did he score, he also assisted the winner scored by Jesse Lingard.
The striker was on the toes of Andreas Christensen and was giving the ever so consistent defender a tough time. Can this be the game where he finally breaks the shackles and starts scoring against the big boys? Only time will tell.
#3 Willian shows his class again
Willian has been under a lot of criticism from the Chelsea fans this season. He was awful for a lot of games at the start of the season but has now finally found his feet.
The Brazilian has been on fire in the last few games has been one of the best players on the pitch. He scored twice in the FA Cup game against Hull City, scored once against Barcelona and now against Manchester United.
If Willian continues to perform like this, Conte will not be able to play his 3-5-2 formation ever again.
#2 Jesse Lingard does it again
Jesse Lingard was not a player fancied by all Manchester United fans. The Englishman has changed all that has all the fans waiting for his arrival in the second half – especially when they are in need of a goal.
The 25-year-old did exactly what Mourinho wanted from him and scored the winner in the 75th minute. He nodded in Lukaku's cross after making a brilliant run into the Chelsea box.
This was his 8th goal of the season and the 2nd time he has won a game for Manchester United after coming on.
#1 Morata goes missing
In the reverse fixture, Alvaro Morata scored a stunning header and won the game for Chelsea. The Spaniard was always on the toes of the Manchester United defenders but that was not the case today.
Morata was slow, uninterested and absolutely clueless in attack. The striker was always out of position and never managed to get a proper shot on target.
How he managed to play the entire game, no one will ever know. He should have been taken for Giroud but Conte went with Pedro for Hazard.
