After a shocking 2013/14 season for Manchester United, some positives were celebrated and awarded at Manchester United’s annual awards ceremony on Thursday night.
Despite lurking down at 7th position in the league table, United’s 23-year-old Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea finally bloomed and silenced his critics with his on field heroics. His performances won him both the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award, which is given by the fans, and Players’ Player of the Year award which is an award given by teammates.
Ryan Giggs the interim Manchester United manager was honoured with lifetime achievement award for his illustrious 24 years with the club.
Wayne Rooney’s spectacular long volley against West Ham, was judged as Manchester United goal of the season.
Rising star James Wilson who scored a brace on his debut against Hull City won the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award while Manchester United’s 2013 summer recruit from FC Zurich, Saidy Janko won the reserve player of the year award.
