#2 Tottenham enter race to sign Bruno Fernandes
Solskjaer's search for a new midfielder this season had taken him to Sporting Lisbon. The Norwegian had identified Bruno Fernandes as the ideal candidate for his midfield revamp for the upcoming season. United had been tracking the player all summer and there have been multiple reports that a deal is very close to completion. However, the transfer saga of Bruno Fernandes has taken an interesting twist of late, thanks to Tottenham Hotspurs.
The Telegraph reports that Spurs have begun negotiations with the player's representatives and are very interested in going head to head with United for his services. Tottenham had been previously interested in Giovani Lo Celso of Real Betis, but after failing to secure his signature, have turned their attentions to the Portuguese.
Representatives of the London club have already flown to Portugal to try and sort out a deal. However, the race to sign Bruno Fernandes is still very much open and United could still land the player provided they submit a bid of their own.
