Argentina international Marcos Rojo will be a Manchester United player by the end of this week with only personal terms and a medical standing in the way of him wearing the red of United.
The deal was announced by the Lancashire club on their Twitter handle. The deal will also see Nani move back to his Portuguese roots after spending seven years in England with the Red Devils.
The Argentine has been in the news all summer with nearly all major clubs getting linked to the mercurial left-back. His growing reputation was further enhanced in the summer when he put in some eye-catching performances for Argentina at the World Cup.
The 24-year-old played a pivotal role in Alejandro Sabella’s team that finished runners-up in the recently concluded 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. He started six games for the South Americans in the tournament, scoring his first ever international goal, which turned out to be the winner against Nigeria at Porto Alegre.
The deal will make, Rojo the third permanent signing at Old Trafford this off-season following in the footsteps of Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw. Marcos is thought to be be the perfect player to slot in at the Left-Wing Back position with United opting to play three at the back at times.
Meanwhile, Nani’s departure was also confirmed by tweets published through the Primeira Liga club's official account, welcoming Nani back to the Estadio Jose Alvalade. United are reportedly paying a further nine million Euros in addition to the 27-year old Portuguese winger.
