According to reports, Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Colombian striker Radamel Falcao to join the club on a permanent basis next summer.
The striker is currently on loan from AS Monaco after the Red Devils paid a £6m fee on deadline day in the transfer window to take him on a season long loan.
The deal will cost the club £43.5m in transfer fees if they decide to buy him.
The 28-year-old striker will reportedly earn £250,000 per week which excludes bonuses and image rights.
Manchester United want to avoid Carlos Tevez-like situation with Falcao
The deal has already been agreed between United’s chief executive and Falcao’s representatives even though they could have waited till the summer of 2015.
One of the reasons for completing the deal this year was to avoid another Carlos Tevez like scenario.
The Argentina international was initially on loan before United tried to meet his £25m buy-out clause with his owners. But the club couldn’t agree personal terms with the player and they eventually lost him to bitter rivals Manchester City where he won the Premier League title.
The club will make a final decision on the transfer based on Falcao’s form and fitness, considering he had a cruciate ligament surgery early this year which led to him being sidelined for six months and eventually missing the World Cup.
