Manchester United boss David Moyes is believed to be looking to pull off a major coup by bringing in Real Madrid superstars Angel Di Maria and Fabio Coentrao in the January transfer window.
It is now a known fact that Moyes did try to bring in Coentrao in the summer window, but the deal fell through in the last minutes after Real Madrid refused to sell. However, with the Bernabeu hierarchy apparently having informed boss Carlo Ancelotti that he must trim his squad before looking to make additions, Real Madrid are now looking to offload the Potuguese left-back for a sum of just £12.5m.
With a move for Everton’s Leighton Baines looking like a lost cause, David Moyes might well be ready to shell out the fee and complete the transfer as Manchester United look to gradually phase out Patrice Evra.
Moyes is also believed to make a bid for Argentine winger Angel Di Maria after Real Madrid have hinted that they will be listening to offers. Di Maria has been a crucial component of Los Blancos over the years but has found himself restricted to appearances off the bench following the world record signing of Gareth Bale in the summer.
Di Maria is reportedly unhappy with not getting regular game time and is looking for a switch as well with Juventus FC also on the list of clubs wanting him. Moyes, who is looking to add a winger to his squad after rather insipid displays from Ashley Young and Luis Nani this season, will definitely be interested given the Argentine winger’s quality. Whether Real Madrid will actually let go of another creative force after selling Mesut Ozil in the summer, remains to be seen.
Although both Coentrao and Di Maria are cup-tied, bringing them to Old Trafford will be a major shot in the arm for David Moyes as he looks to resurrect Manchester United’s league campaign.
