Manchester United are set to target Netherlands star Daley Blind as it looks increasingly likely that Patrice Evra will end his eight-year stay at Old Trafford, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Evra, 33, looks set to join Serie A champions Juventus and end his almost decade-long Man Utd career this summer. Southampton’s 18-year-old sensation, Luke Shaw, recently joined Man Utd for around £30 million meaning Evra’s chances in the first-team are now limited.
Evra has apparently asked Man United to let him leave as a move to Juve looks on the horizon.
That has forced Man Utd and their new manager, Louis van Gaal, to target Daley Blind who has had a brilliant World Cup for the Netherlands. Blind is naturally a central midfielder but has been played as a left-back and left wing-back for his country in Brazil.
He has not disappointed at all and Van Gaal may look at signing him, firstly as a central midfielder, but back-up at left-back to Shaw should the rumours about Evra’s future be true.
Van Gaal is a big fan of Blind and has been heavily linked with a move for the Ajax man this summer. A move to Old Trafford could definitely be on the cards as his versatility is very attractive to the Dutchman who likes to change his formation regularly.
