Manchester United comfortably saw off Kitchee FC 5-2 in a pre-season friendly, in Hong Kong.
Michael Keane, the 20-year-old centre back, who impressed on loan, with Leicester City last season, was given a start by United manager David Moyes.
England international, Danny Welbeck, opened the scoring in the 16th minute as he fired one from the close range, cashing in on Ashley Young’s rebounded attempt off the post. Chris Smalling and Fabio Da Silva added two more goals to United’s tally in the next 9 minutes as the Red Devils went 3-0 up within 25 minutes of the first half.
United looked particularly dangerous on the break, especially with the pace of Welbeck and Zaha.
As the second half begun, Alexander Buttner’s cross met Adnan Januzaj, who headed it past Wang Zhenpeng in the 49th minute. Just when it looked like Kitchee FC were in for a long night, Lam Ka Wai and Alex Tayo Akande gave something for their fans to celebrate by scoring goals in 53rd and 67th minute respectively.
However, Jesse Lingard destroyed any hopes of a possible comeback from Kitchee FC with a screamer from 20 yards, in the 79th minute of the game, as the game ended 5-2 in Manchester United’s favour.
