Manchester United left-back Alexander Büttner is set to join Russian side Dinamo Moscow after he revealed that he does not believe that he will be part of new manager Louis Van Gaal’s plans.
Speaking to Dutch paper De Telegraaf Buttner said that he was going to undergo a medical with Dinamo Moscow, who finished fourth in the Russian Premier League last season.
They finished 12 points behind eventual champions CSKA Moscow and will play in the Europa League but Buttner said that he believed that the club were capable of more.
“Van Gaal never gave me the chance in the Dutch national team, despite being voted man of the match fourteen times at Manchester United. Apparently, he is not very confident about me. So I think this is the right moment to leave.”
“But I am convinced that the club [Dinamo Moscow] now can challenge for the championship and then move into the Champions League.”
Buttner joined Manchester United from Vitesse in 2012 but he failed to make an impact at Old Trafford. He was originally touted as a possible replacement for Patrice Evra but he failed to live up to expectations.
Despite offering Evra a brand new one year deal Manchester United are still looking for a brand new left-back. To that end United are looking to tie up a deal for Southampton left-back Luke Shaw.
In two seasons Buttner made just 13 league appearances
