Manchester United, who have been rumoured to have been rejected by German superstars Thomas Muller and Marco Reus have denied making a bid for either player.A United spokesperson told Sky Sports that the club have not been interested in either player at any stage.
This comment comes as a reaction to latest quotes by Atletico Madrid President Enrique Cerezo who himself distanced Borussia Dortmund’s Reus from his club but revealing that the star winger had rejected the Old Trafford based side.
He had earlier told Spanish radio: “I don’t know where the Marco Reus rumour came from.
“It’s a player who, at this time, is impossible to us.
“Look, he had an offer for a lot of money from Manchester United and he has not gone…we will not sign him with a lesser offer.”
Muller had also spoken of the 20 time English league champions’ interest.
The Bayern Munich star said: “Of course. I was aware that I could earn more by making that transfer.
The amount that foreign clubs were offering me was astronomical. But Bayern are my club, a change was not an issue for me.”
United’s denial is being seen as a comment to save face in the transfer market in which they have promised to spend but have only ended up with Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo.
Earlier, the club’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward had promised that there is no set transfer budget and that they are prepared to break transfer record to sign the right players.
