David Moyes sent his scouts to watch Diego Costa at the weekend, according to the Daily Mail.
After being knocked out of the FA Cup by Swansea City and losing their Capital One Cup semi-final first leg to Sunderland, United’s season sunk to a new low which may force Moyes’ hand in the transfer market.
It is clear that Moyes wants plenty of reinforcements, with reports suggesting his main priorities are left-back and central midfield. However, the Daily Mail‘s report suggests Moyes is looking for one big signing to turn the feeling upside-down at United.
Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney’s injury concerns may also be the reason behind Moyes’ targeting of Costa.
The Spaniard has scored 19 goals in 18 La Liga matches this season and has helped Atletico Madrid draw level on points with Barcelona.
He would demand a fee in the region of £40 million and, with reports suggesting that Moyes is being given £100 million, Moyes may jump on Costa before someone else does.
Costa has scored 38.8% of his chances at Atletico Madrid in La Liga this season.
