Manchester United drew 1-1 with AIK Solna in their pre-season friendly match in Stockholm, Sweden. United chose to start with a relatively stronger side compared to previous games as David Moyes gave starts to Robin Van Persie, Nani, and Nemanja Vidic.
The Red Devils came agonisingly close to scoring several times in the first half of the game but their finishing let them down, whereas AIK Solna were keen on making the breaks they got count. Nani was particularly impressive until he was replaced, by Angelo Henriquez in the 31st minute, after suffering a muscle injury.
Anders Lindegaard did a commendable job in evading AIK winger Martin Mutumba’s multiple attempts to score past the United goal keeper. The entertaining first half came to an end with both teams unable to break the deadlock.
As soon as the second half begun, AIK went one up in the 49th minute of the game with a cracking goal from Robin Quaison. The midfielder turned Vidic over easily with his first touch and unleashed a lethal strike from 25 yards into the top right corner past a hapless Lindegaard.
United’s injury woes continued to grow as Jonny Evans was taken off. However, Henriquez, assisted by Zaha, scored the equaliser in the 68th minute.
The Red Devils continued to push for the winner and were looking the most likely team to get the lead. But, they were not able to find the back of the net as the game ended 1-1.
