What's the story?
Manchester United have long been linked with a sensational move for Real Madrid star Gareth Bale and now latest reports in Diario Gol (via TheFaithfulMUFC) claim that the Red Devils are very close to completing a stunning swoop for the Welsh winger.
The 28-year-old winger has had a tough time this season with injuries and it seems like Madrid president Florentino Perez has finally given permission for Bale to seek out a new challenge next summer.
Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked, but it is believed that Manchester United are way ahead in the race to secure Bale's signature.

In case you didn't know...
Gareth Bale was linked with a move to Manchester United all summer, but Real Madrid held firm and said that the Welshman was an important part of their plans. However, it seems like Zidane and Perez are now tired of the forward's continuous injury blows and are ready to sell him to the Premier League for the right price.
While Manchester United are ready to pay around £60 million, Madrid are reported to be looking at a fee of around £80 million.
The heart of the matter
Real Madrid have already reportedly made enquiries for Eden Hazard and it is believed that the Belgian superstar is being targetted as an ideal replacement for the Welsh winger. Manchester United, on the other hand, are keen to add some attacking options on the wing although Martial has been in good form for the Red Devils.
Mourinho believes that the Premier League giants require depth and quality in attack and the addition of Bale will definitely make United one of the most feared attacks in Europe. With United reportedly having been given permission to talk to Bale, we might see this blockbuster transfer come to fruition in the summer transfer window.
