Chelsea believe that Juventus will soften their stance on the Brazilian if he hands in a transfer request to force a move away from Turin. Evening Standard understands that the Blues have made another inquiry for the left back but Juventus rejected their advances straightway.

The Bianconeri do not want to lose yet another first team player this season after already seeing Leonardo Bonucci join AC Milan.

Southampton closing in on Wesley Hoedt

Despite Saints chairman, Ralph Krueger stating categorically that Virgil Van Dijk is not for sale, the club is reportedly close to signing Lazio's Wesley Hoedt, a player of a similar playing style to the Dutchman.

The Daily Mirror reports that Southampton have struck a deal with Lazio for £15.4 million. Hoedt is expected to arrive in England in the next few days.
