Barcelona have already rejected two bids from Manchester United for their midfielder Cesc Fabregas. Having all the while maintained a tough stance on the Spanish midfielder, new Barca coach Gerardo Martino yesterday admitted that while he is confident of Fabregas staying at the Camp Nou, the final decision would rest with the player himself.
“I would prefer him to stay with us, and I dare say he will, but it’s his decision,” Martino said.
“He is one of the best players in the squad. I think he will stay. But there’s a part that he has to decide. Cesc will decide the situation, but it has not occurred to me that I won’t be able to count on him.” added Martino, as reported by Eurosport.
Fabregas came on as a sub off the bench yesterday, in Barca’s friendly against Santos at the Camp Nou, to score a double and set up Jean Marie Dongou for the final goal.
Last year’s Spanish league champions Barcelona, have already rejected bids in the region of £25million and £30million from Manchester United for the player. Coach Martino continues to remain confident that Fabregas will choose the Camp Nou over Old Trafford and help in ushering in this new phase at the Catalan club.
