Stalling contract talks with current side Real Madrid mean that Manchester United could be about to swoop for Argentina winger Angel di Maria, report the Daily Star. The paper reports Man United have been offered the assist king for £40 million.
Di Maria scored the winner for Argentina in their World Cup last 16 win over Switzerland and had a starring role as Real won the Champions League. However negotiations over a new contract at Madrid have proven unfruitful, with the Spanish side unwilling to give in to the 26-year-old’s wage demands.
This has seen them reportedly test the water and canvas interest from other clubs in Di Maria, who they value at £40 million. United are said to only be willing to pay £30 million for Di Maria, also linked with Chelsea, Arsenal, Juventus and Paris Saint Germain, but Real are reportedly optimistic of striking a deal.
Di Maria made 34 league appearances for Real last season, creating more chances than any other Los Blancos player (90), while he has also featured in all four of Argentina’s World Cup games.
