As per reports by Sky Sports, United have registered their interest in signing Leon Goretzka. The Schalke midfielder's contract at the Bundesliga club expires at the end of the season and is free to sign a pre-contract with any club in January.
In case you didn’t know...
Just like Goretzka, Manchester United have Ander Herrera's contract expiring at the end of the season. The Spaniard is yet to agree terms for a new contract and is reportedly stalling on the new deal.
The former Athletic Bilbao star wants to remain at Old Trafford but is reportedly not happy with the wages offered to him. He has also attracted interest from Barcelona and that has got his head turned as per reports in Spain.
The heart of the matter
Goretzka has been the subject a lot of rumours recently. The German was linked with Arsenal last month but with performing so well at Schalke, Barcelona have also shown interest in him.
The Catalan side have held several meetings with him according to reports while Juventus have also confirmed their interest in signing the midfielder.
Jose Mourinho sees him as a like-for-like replacement for Ander Herrera and is desperate to sign him. The German has been contacted by the Red Devils who hope to convince him to join them soon.
