Manchester United were beaten 2-3 by the J-league team Yokohama F Marinos in their pre-season friendly in Japan.
This is the second defeat in three games for David Moyes’s men in the pre season games. Despite having the lead at half time United were unable to hold on and were defeated through a late goal by Yoshihito Fujita with three minutes left in the second half.
Not even a minute had been played in the match when the first strike was made. Brazilian striker Marquinhos fortunately had the ball back in possession after his shot on goal was blocked by an acrobatic save by David de Gea. This time though he made sure to hit the target, giving the Marinos the lead.
But this early setback did not deter the team, and they were able to pull back a couple of goals of their own starting with Lingard scoring after 18 minutes of play.
Masakazu Tashiro was not having a great game and it was his self goal that gave United the lead, the young team was by now definitely pleasing the coach David Moyes with their resilience.
Jonny Evans had decent opportunities to put United furthur ahead but was unable to convert any of these opportunities.
These misses proved to be expensive as Marinos defender Fabio climbed highest at the far post to head home direct from a corner, equalizing the score line.
The introduction of Shinji Kagawa for Manchester gave the expectant large crowd a lot to cheer about, and the Japanese star did not let down by creating a half chance for substitute Ashley Young who unfortunately could not convert.
In the dying minutes though Yoshihito Fujita scored, thus ending the game with yet another defeat for United.
