Manchester United have made a stunning bid for arch-rivals Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard, claims the Sun.
The paper claims Sir Alex Ferguson is convinced that Lampard can continue to excel in the Premier League despite being 34 years old. Lampard, whose contract with Chelsea expires at the end of the summer, has been told by the club he will not be offered a new deal.
The Sun claims that although he is free to sign a pre-contract in January with foreign clubs, he is keen to stay at Stamford Bridge till the summer, which is when Sir Alex Ferguson plans to make a move.
The report goes on to add that United have already made contact with Lampard’s representatives. The Red Devils, it seems, are ready to offer Lampard a one year deal with the possibility of another year if all goes well.
Arsenal are also keen on the midfielder and so are a few other clubs abroad.
