Marouane Fellaini and Wayne Rooney have both been passed fit to take part in Manchester United’s clash against their former club Everton, having both struggling with minor injuries in recent weeks.
Rooney played with a painkilling injection against Bayern Munich after suffering a toe injury, but has recovered suitably after a week’s rest, while Fellaini himself missed out completely on the Champions League quarter-final clash after picking up a knock.
Both have recovered however and are in serious consideration to play against their former club, with Fellaini joining manager David Moyes to make their first trips to Goodison Park since leaving the Toffees to link up with United last summer.
Moyes confirmed that both would be in the squad, telling Manchester United’s official website, “Rooney trained great this week and has been in really good form.
“We’re hopefully getting him back, as he wasn’t quite right with his toe at times. He’s trained great though.
“Felli didn’t play against Bayern, but we expect him back fit because he has trained all week.
“Jonny Evans is making progress, but Rafael is the one player not available.”
United will also be missing Robin Van Persie as he continues his comeback from a knee injury sustained against Olympiakos last month and Moyes offered an update on the sidelined Dutchman as well.
“Robin is in Holland and improving, but we always thought it would be four to six weeks.
“We’ll have a better assessment of him in the next week or so. Our medical team is heading out there this week to see him, to get a better feel as to exactly where he is.”
Marouane Fellaini has created just three chances for teammates for Manchester United this season, fewer than Anderson (4), who left the club in January.
