Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley has been sidelined from the England team for the upcoming friendlies against Republic of Ireland and Brazil.
Cleverley is the latest addition in the list of England players, that include other midfielders such as Arsenal‘s Jack Wilshere and Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard and Andy Carroll, who have been ruled out from the games due to injuries.
Jack Rodwell of Manchester City has been called up to the squad as a substitute for Cleverley. Rodwell, 22, has just appeared in two matches for the England team, the last one during the 1-0 friendly victory against Sweden in November 2011.
The revised England team consists of:
Midfielders: Michael Carrick, Frank Lampard, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jack Rodwell, Theo Walcott.
Defenders: Leighton Baines, Gary Cahill, Ashley Cole, Phil Jagielka, Glen Johnson, Phil Jones, Joleon Lescott, Kyle Walker.
Forwards: Jermain Defoe, Wayne Rooney, Daniel Sturridge, Danny Welbeck.
Goalkeepers: Ben Foster, Joe Hart, Alex McCarthy.
