Manchester United are closely monitoring Gareth Bale‘s progress at Real Madrid in view of buying the Welsh winger next summer if the player’s stay at the Bernabeu goes pearshaped, according to Metro.
United were keen to acquire Bale’s services over the summer but baulked at the player’s former club Tottenham, who eventually rinsed out 85m Euros from Real Madrid.
Bale hasn’t been thoroughly impressive in his opening couple of months at the Spanish capital, mainly due to niggling injuries which have forced him out of the game for a few weeks. On top of that, a dismal performance for the Los Blancos in yesterday’s El Clasico against Barcelona has fuelled speculations of an early exit for the player.
On the other hand, Manchester United and their new CEO Ed Woodward have been under intense pressure to make a marquee signing next summer, especially after the unsatisfactory start the club has made under David Moyes.
