Nemanja Vidic has spoken of his excitement of undertaking a new challenge when he completes his move to Inter Milan this summer on a free transfer from Manchester United.
Vidic ends his eight year association with the Red Devils when his contract expires at the end of the season, having already signed a pre-contract to link up with the Nerazzuri for the 2014/15 campaign.
The Serbian defender – who saw red for the fourth time against Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday – is looking forward to a change of scenery, but denies the exit of Sir Alex Ferguson and subsequent appointment of David Moyes impacted his decision to quit Old Trafford.
Vidic told reporters, “It’s time for a change and now I’m looking for a new challenge in Italy with Inter.
“The fact that Sir Alex Ferguson has left has nothing to do with my decision to leave United.
“It has been a great eight years. Great memories, five titles, the Champions League and to play with so many great players.
“I’ve developed as a man. I have no regrets.
“It’s been difficult thinking about how long I’ve got left to play for the club. I would like to finish on a high with good performances – as an individual and a team.”
Nemanja Vidic has won 74 aerial duels in the Premier League this season, more than any other player in the Manchester United squad.
