During international duty for Netherlands Under-21 side, Tahith Chong has confirmed interest from various clubs in Holland during the summer. The youngster has also revealed that talks are ongoing between his agent and Manchester United bosses over his contract renewal.

Under the tutelage of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Tahith Chong has made rapid strides on the journey from Academy to the first-team football. With Norwegian's inclination towards exciting young talents, the 18-year-old is anticipated to play an important role for Man United in various competitions like Europa League and Cup fixtures.
Having sold Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku in the summer, United have limited options in the attacking cadre. Chong, alongside Angel Gomes, and Mason Greenwood, is expected to fill the void in Red Devil's squad this season.
The heart of the matter
During an interview, the Dutch youngster talked about the dialogue between himself and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, where the manager asserted that the 18-year-old is expected to play a big role this season for United. His quote(Voetbal Primeur via Sport Witness) read as follows:
“Ole tells me to keep working hard and my chances will come. That’s nice to hear. There are a few players who left and I’m climbing up the pecking order. It’s always nice to come back to the Netherlands, but in the end I have to do what I find best for myself. That’s why I decided to stay.”
With his contract expiring in the summer of 2020, Chong also confirmed talks between the club and his representatives over a contract extension, The Netherland U-21 international said:
“Of course we are talking, but it’s still too early to say anything about it. The season is still long and we will see what happens. There are a lot of competitions coming up and I will focus on that.”

Tahith Chong could make his second Jong Oranje appearance against Cyprus U-21 team, having debuted under Erwin van de Looi against Germany last November.
Meanwhile, Manchester United return to action in the Premier League against Leicester City at Old Trafford on September 14.
