What's the story?
Former Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has shared his opinions on who should be the next manager of the Red Devils.
In case you didn't know..
Manchester United selected their former player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as caretaker manager after the sacking of Jose Mourinho, who was in charge of the club for two and a half seasons.
Solskjaer has brought the attacking brand of football back to Old Trafford. Manchester United have registered nine wins and a draw out of the ten games played since Solskjaer took over managerial duties. The team has scored 25 goals and conceded just seven under him.
United is yet to decide on the man to take over as the club's next manager position from the upcoming season. Rumours suggest that Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino is an option which is being actively considered for the job.
The heart of the matter
Rooney in an interview with CNN said that he would be happy to see Solskjaer as the permanent manager of Manchester United.
"Ole Gunnar's a fantastic person, I think, the club will have a decision to make at the end of the season, and it'd be nice to see if Ole's going to continue with this form, and get a shot at the job on the payment basis," he said.
The forward also admitted that he would love to see Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino get the nod if the club decides not to back the Norweigan for the permanent role.
"But if not, if the club go to choose from somewhere else, then I think in my opinion Pochettino would be the right guy," he added.
What's next?
Manchester are currently fifth in the league, only two points behind Chelsea. United next face Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
