After failing to secure the services of Toni Kroos and Thomas Muller, United are hoping to sign Bastian Schweinsteiger by launching a £20 million bid for him to the Bundesliga champions. Louis Van Gaal has listed the 29 year old as priority transfer target for the Red Devils and Ed Woodward (executive vice-chairman) will soon make a formal bid for the midfielder in the coming days.
Schweinsteiger played a vital role in Bayern’s quest for Bundesliga and DFB Pokal this season. He played 23 league matches and netted the ball 4 times.
He plays as center midfielder, a position which Van Gaal assigned him back during his tenure at the Bavarian capital. He has been popularly nicknamed as the "Midfield Motor", apart from this Schweinsteiger has excellent passing and tackling ability. With United lacking quality in the midfield, his inclusion in the squad could provide much needed stability and creativity.
But Pep might be reluctant to let one of his star players leave this summer, unless Manchester United could make an offer too irresistible for the Munich midfield maestro.
