Manchester United are preparing a bid in the region of £25 million for Real Madrid star Angel Di Maria, after he suggested he could leave, according to the Metro.
The Argentine, who starred in the Champions League final as Real Madrid won La Decima, could be on his way out of the club, despite a stunning season at the Bernabeu.
His suggestions that he could leave have, apparently, kick-started Man Utd’s interest enough to prepare a big bid for his services. Arsenal are also interested in Di Maria, as well as other attacking midfielders.
“I am not going to lie, I know that there are clubs that want to sign me and can match Real Madrid’s demands,” he said.
“I am happy at Madrid. I had a great season and always had everybody’s support.”
Despite United finishing in seventh place in the Premier League and not qualifying for any European competition, it is thought that they are targeting a whole range of players in an attempt to get back to the top of English football.
New manager Louis van Gaal is thought to be targeting the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Bastian Schweinsteiger but more will be made clear when he gets to work following his time as Netherlands head coach after the World Cup has finished.
Di Maria made 17 assists last season, more than any other player in Europe’s top leagues.
