According to Montpellier president Louis Nicollin, the club’s playmaker Remy Cabella could sign for Manchester United as early as the winter transfer window in January.
The player once valued at a farcical price of £100m by the club could be available for just €18 million (approximately £14m).
“If they give us €17 million, we’ll see,” Nicollin said.
“We have a deal with him that he leaves in June, not January. But everything can be negotiated, particularly with such a good little one.”
The 23-year-old is one of Ligue 1‘s brightest talents and has already scored five goals while grabbing two assists this season. He generally plays as a central attacking midfielder for Montpellier.
When asked about a possible departure from the club, Cabella said, “A departure can always happen in either January or next summer – of course you think about it.
“But I belong to a team, and for the moment I’m 100 percent focused on Montpellier. It’s still too soon to talk about it.”
