Barcelona have told Manchester United to look elsewhere for a solution to their left-back problems, with Jordi Alba unavailable according to theExpress.
United have been attempting to bring in more defensive reinforcements at left-back, with Patrice Evra carrying the burden for many seasons. The Frenchman signed a contract extension recently, but the club have been working hard to bring in young Luke Shaw as competition. The move for Shaw seems to have hit a few rocks and the Southampton man hasn’t come closer to signing for the Red Devils.
The 18-year-old is currently with the England squad preparing for the World Cup in Brazil and with the tournament delaying negotiations, Barcelona’s Jordi Alba is reportedly being lined up by Man United as an alternative to the Englishman.
However, Barcelona have told Louis van Gaal and co. that Alba is not for sale and no price will prize away the Spanish international.
Alba missed the majority of last season through injury and managed just 21 appearances. The former Valencia full-back was in his second season for the Catalan giants and he was looking to build on what was an impressive first campaign.
Alba is in the Spain squad for his summers World Cup.
