#1 Mourinho turns down a huge offer to manage Guangzhou Evergrande
Former United manager Jose Mourinho is yet to rejoin football management after getting the sack from Manchester United in December last year. The Portuguese has been involved as a football pundit but has maintained his desire to manage at the highest level once again. He had revealed in March of this year that he was ready to return to management, but was waiting for the right offer.
I know exactly what I don't want.
I know what I want, in terms of not the specific club but the nature of the job, the dimension of the job.
The Telegraph reports that Jose Mourinho was offered a lucrative deal to manage Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande, however, the Portuguese refused the offer. Mourinho was offered a three year deal worth €30m a year but chose to turn down the chance to manage in China.
The former United manager had a meeting with Evergrande Chairman Xu Jiayin in April in London, where the offer was presented to him. However, Mourinho politely refused the offer. The main reason for his refusal is because the Portuguese wants to manage at the top level of football once again.
