Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has hinted that he may have to leave the club this summer, insisting he does not want to be renowned as a ‘super-sub’.

Hernandez has struggled all season for regular first-team football and that affected his World Cup as he was left out of the starting line-up in Mexico’s opening 1-0 win over Cameroon.

The Manchester United striker has been heavily linked with the likes of Inter Milan and possibly in a swap-deal with Luke Shaw, however, he has remained coy on his future until now.

Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton are also keeping tabs on the prolific front-man.

The United striker has now admitted he does not want to be on the bench and is disgruntled with life at Old Trafford after falling behind in the pecking order for United. Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie occupy the front roles, while Danny Welbeck and the expected additions up-front in the summer will rival him even more for a starting berth.

Hernandez told reporters: “I’ve never seen myself as a sub and I don’t like being one, and believe me, I am tired of a lot of people seeing me that way, as a ‘super-sub’.

“I’m a player that has made a difference as a starter.”
