Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez is to remain at the club for the foreseeable future, according to his agent, but has attracted interest from a number of top European clubs. The Mexican’s agent Eduardo Hernandez claimed that one of “the top ten teams in the world” were interested in his client, along with clubs from Italy, France, Germany and Spain.
“I had meetings with a few clubs, I won’t name them nor their offers, they are very interested in him. One of the top ten teams in the world are among those teams that were very interested in signing Javier.
“There was a club from Germany, one from France, and two from Spain and Italy each that want to have him. However, he is under contract with Man United and he somehow has to respect it in case there is an agreement between the parties.”
However, Hernandez’s future beyond the end of the season remains in doubt, with his agent refusing to say if his client would still be at the club next season.
“I couldn’t say that for sure,” he said.
“Football is dynamic, and his current situation could change tomorrow, so there are clubs that are interested, that like him a lot and trust him to succeed.
“He has achieved a high value in Europe’s market and I can’t say that there won’t be anything concrete after the next six months. However, we do hope he gets minutes [on the pitch].”
Hernandez has started just four games for United in this season’s Premier League, having fallen down the pecking order at the club, with doubts lingering over his suitability to fit into the side’s lone striker role.
From 14 league appearances this season, Hernandez has completed 90 minutes on just one occasion.
