Atletico's Gimenez to sign a new contract
Atletico Madrid's 22-year old centre-back Jose Gimenez is gearing to sign a new contract with the Madrid club, as per Fabrizio Romano. The announcement of a new deal is imminent and this implies that Manchester United will not be able to sign him in the immediate future.
The Red Devils were interested in the defender over the summer but ended up signing Victor Lindelof from Benfica, who has endured a tough start to life at Old Trafford. Italian giants Juventus were also linked with the player but preferred to sign the experienced Benedikt Howedes from Schalke.
Thus, any deal for Gimenez will prove to be an expensive one for United, in case they wish to sign him next year.
United enquire about Pellegrini
According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, United have made an enquiry on AS Roma youngster Lorenzo Pellegrini regarding his contract and release clause. The 21-year old homegrown player grabbed the attention of United's scout last weekend who was sent to monitor Radja Nainggolan as per the report.
The midfielder has one cap with Italy and has spent the previous two seasons on loan at Sassuolo. The youngster signed a new contract over the summer until 2022 and is rumoured to have a release clause of €30 million.
It remains to be seen whether United follow up on their enquiry with a more concrete offer next year.
Fellaini bargaining for a better deal
It is no secret that players above the age of 30 are offered one-year rolling contracts at Manchester United. 29-year old Marouane Fellaini is in his final year of his contract and as per Daily Mail, he is looking for a longer improved deal.
The Belgian has been offered €4 million per season by Galatasaray if reports from Fanatik are to be believed. Jose Mourinho has already blocked a move to the Turkish club over the summer citing the importance of Fellaini to the United side:
“It’s easier for Galatasaray to get me than to get Maroaune, Forget it. He’s too important to me.”
Fellaini can speak to foreign clubs from January and United will have to break their policy if they have to keep the Belgian.
